Acacia wood cutting board
An acacia wood cutting board stands out above all for its colour: warm honey brown, with a lively grain pattern that differs from tree to tree. This means no two boards are exactly alike. Acacia is also hard and dense, so it absorbs little moisture and you can work vigorously on it. Acacia wood cutting boards are available in various sizes, from small cutting boards to large serving boards.
Features of an acacia cutting board
An acacia cutting board is harder and denser than a board made from, for example, beech or walnut wood. Its dense structure means the wood absorbs little moisture and odour: if you clean the board thoroughly after use, you will not be able to smell yesterday's onion on it. Yet the wood remains soft enough to protect your knives, as the surface yields slightly under the cutting edge.
Colour is the second reason. The wood naturally has a warm tone and becomes a shade deeper after oiling, with a lively grain pattern that differs from board to board.
How to oil wooden cutting board
One thing remains: wood and the dishwasher do not go together. Rinse the board after use, dry it with a cloth and stand it upright to dry. Treat the wood with cutting board oil approximately once a month. You can read exactly how to do this in maintaining a wooden cutting board. Still unsure about the type of wood?
