The Tojiro Basic F-316 santoku is a simple yet effective Japanese kitchen knife. A santoku is the Japanese version of the chef's knife. This knife is perfect for chopping vegetables, meat, fish, onion, garlic and various types of herbs. The remarkable forging method and the luxurious handle material ensure that not only the whole looks amazing, but is also amazing to use. The knife was made in Seki, Japan by artisan knife makers using traditional techniques.

The knife is nicely packaged and is very sharp straight out of the box, I have quite small hands and it fits nicely me very nicely, it's quite a thin light knife but is more than robust enough for most applications. I haven't had to sharpen it yet as I haven't used it much so I can't comment on how long to stays sharp
